It was amazing how much a person could change in so short a time. A mere five years ago, Albus had been frightened of the Slytherin common room. He'd thought the skulls were real, that the darkness was imposing, and the Great Lake was one rough wrestling match away from coming down on their heads. Thinking about it now caused him to laugh at himself.
One, those skulls weren't real. They were made from clay and painted white with such skill they looked real. The darkness no longer wrapped around him like hands to cut off air and cause panic. Now it wrapped around him like a blanket, offering safety and comfort and protection. Like his mother's arms, or his father's hand on his shoulder. And the thought of ANY Slytherin wrestling at all, let alone roughly, was an absurd one.
The fire burned low in the hearth, more out of the middle Potter's laziness than anything. He was sitting upside down on the couch, with his feet in the air and his head hanging near the floor. His tie was undone and hanging in his face, but frankly Albus didn't care. He was feeling floppy this evening, like an amoeba. The only thing missing was a television and the moment would be complete.

Eliza collins feel too much Slytherin's common room was always something good to come back to. Unlike some First Year students, Elizabeth never thought it was frightening, but rather beautiful. And she expected it, considering her parents had told her all about it. They were Slytherin crazy and would most likely skin her alive if she didn't get sorted into it.
She made her way back to the common room, a book in hand from her reading session at the library: where she almost always was. Considering the Slytherin common room was never very quiet the library was the place to go, despite the fact that she had read most of the books there, twice.
Eliza entered the Slytherin common room, and stopped to gaze around. It was rather empty, in fact, at first she thought no one was there but then her eyes focused on a boy. He was sitting - well not exactly sitting - on the couch in quite the peculiar position. She wasn't quite sure what he was doing, but curious, she moved closer to him. "What are you doing?" she asked, now able to identify him as she was close enough.
Albus Potter. She knew him well, but not too well. He was a classmate from the beginning, and of course he was a part of her house and Quidditch team so... she knew him but not enough to laugh at what he was doing. word count: 236 | albus | the slytherin common room ulla

Scorpius had missed dinner, but he found himself not caring too much about the minor detail. He had a stash of sweets and other snacks hidden away in his truck for such occasions. The simple fact of the matter was that he had gotten so wrapped up in his research, that he had completely forgotten to eat. Oh, well not the first time, and probably not the last. He was close to a breakthrough, he felt it. The problem, well, one of the problems, as he saw it, was that after Voldemort had been defeated, everything on horicruxes and their creation had been destroyed. No one wanted history to repeat itself. Well, he was going to change that.
He was making his way from the dorms to the common room, wanting a change of scenery, when he he spotted his best mate Al Potter looking very lazy and very comfortable on one of the couches, and he was not alone. Great, he could handle Albus of course, but he was not in the mood to socialize with anyone else at the moment, or pretend to. Even if that person was the house quiddich captain. Still, he saw no way around it. He pasted what he hoped was a convincing smile on his face and approached the pair.
"Al! What's up mate? Do you plan on getting up anytime soon or are you practicing for a career as a beanbag chair?" This was sincere, Al Potter was the only person Scorpius could even attempt to joke with. Which was odd considering their family's history. He glanced over at Elizabeth, he remembered her name now, and gave a curt nod, hoping she got the hint that he was not interested in talking with her.
Slumping down in a chair opposite his friend, he waited for whatever happened next.

i wake at the first cringe of morning and my heart's already sinned Food was a necessity for Zoey, as it was for more people. What made the need different for zoey was not just to sustain her life but to not let her energy levels bottom out. Her metabolism was faster than most people due to the werewolf blood in her so Zoey was often see snacking. She always made sure she was on time for dinner because going through a night without dinner was grueling for her. Tonight her belly was full of lamb chops and onion soup giving it a warm cozy feeling. It was now time to retire to the Slytherin common room and although Zoey hardly followed this rule she decided tonight she wasn’t up for much mischief. Heading toward the dungeons she wondered what the commotion in the common room would be like tonight. One could never tell with the snakes, they weren’t rather predictable when it came to their nighttime routines. Whispering the password Zoey gained entrance into her home away from home.
Upon entering she noticed it was rather quiet. Once she walked into the main part of the common room she saw why. There were only 3 others occupying the furniture. All in the year below her. One was a Potter, another a Malfoy, and the last was a girl who spent too much time in books for her to remember her name. For a moment she contemplated on whether or not she would even bother with them and just head up to her room to finish one of her essays. Zoey locked her eyes on Scorpius and instantly decided.
Walking over to him, she decided to mess with him. It was always fun to make him flustered. ”I see you saved me a seat, Malfoy.” She said with a smirk on her face as she sat in his lap. "So is this what you guys do for fun? Lounging around looking miserable with each others' company?" She questioned.
