A purtid stench could be smelled a block away from the tavern in which Lachlan worked. The Hog's Head Inn was a famous tavern that witches and wizards of all ages came to get their fill of firewhiskey and skillfully made food. Lachlan had been employed here for several years and was looked at intensely by the current owner to take over the bar. Lachlan felt quite honoured to be considered for the position but he didn't want to be doing this for the rest of his life.
Lachlan threw a bar towel over his shoulder and greeted the elderly man who had just sat down at the bar.
"What can I get ye sir?" He asked in a thick Irish accent. The customer grumbled something inaudible. Lachlan shook his head and went to the back bar to grab the filthy gentleman his usual order. He placed the two shots of alcohol in front of the man and nodded twice as the coins were strewn across the bar. Lach picked them up and wiped down the table. He placed the coins into the jar and continued on his way around the keep. He paused for a moment when he came across a few young witches who looked a little too young to be in the tavern. He ran his hand through his ginger beard and gave them a quizzical look. It was just enough for the young girls to finish off their drinks and leave the premises. Lachlan had seen it happen too many times where underage witches would come into the bar and leave half-cut and be followed by drunken old men.
Lachlan smiled to himself and continued serving his customers. After a few more hours of being on the job, the door to the tavern opened, revealing a fresh new face. It was someone that he hadn't seen before, which was interesting because Lachlan was almost always at the tavern working a shift.

We're interrupted by the heat of the sun trying to prevent what's already begun
Pain racked Pansy's head. A throbbing headache had become a constant in her life between her job and her useless husband. Unfortunately today's cause was Mr. Flint. Pansy had much rather have a headache due to work because at the end of the day she got the last laugh by taking away the existence of magic from any muggle that happened to witness some. Having a knack for getting into people's mind had always been a skill of Pansy's even without intruding into someone's mind in a literal sense.
With her head pounding she needed something to numb her pain, something much stronger than medicine. Considering she did not want to be home or looked for Pansy decided the best place was the Hog’s Head. Not too many of the people she knew would frequent this place even if it has slightly improved over the years.
Entering the pub she knew this was the right place to be seeing as there was only an elderly man sitting at the bar that seemed like he hadn’t moved in days…if he could move. Making sure to stay far away from the old man and his stench Pansy walked up to the other side of the bar. Looking down at the barstool a look of displeasure marked her face. Taking her finger she swiped it across the stool; a small streak appeared where her finger dragged. ”Hmmm, not as bad as I thought it was going to be.” She states to no one in particular. Deciding that it was at least clean enough to sit Pansy perched herself on the stool placing her purse on the one next to her. ”What sort of wines do you have here?” Pansy inquired of the bartender.

let's see where this road takes us 323 WORDS | @pansy | HAS AWESOME TATTOOS | TRYING TO MAKE IT AS LONG AS POSSIBLE! |
Lachlan peered over at the woman walking through the bar, sitting as far away from the older wizard as possible. Lach could tell just by the way she walked over, slid her finger across the stool, and sat down that this woman was of higher income. Lachlan was never one to mingle with such witches but this was work. And work required him to treat all witches and wizards equally. Lachlan turned to the older gentleman and passed him another shot before flinging the towel over his shoulder and walking toward the woman. She inquired about the wine collection at the tavern. To be honest, there wasn't much for wine as most of the witches and wizards only drank three kinds of alcohol.
Lachlan scratched his head and gave her a nervous laugh. "Sorry ma'am, but I'm not too sure. No one really drinks wine here, but I'll go and check for ye," he stated in his distinct Irish accent. He wiped the down the bar in front of her and placed the towel back over his shoulder before walking to the back of the pub. Lachlan knew there was a box of wine bottles somewhere in the cellar. He looked around before spotting it. It was nestled between the box of firewhiskey and new bar rags. He looked for a few moments before deciding that it would be best to bring out the entire box to the woman so she could pick. They were all high end wines so she wouldn't have much to say about the age. He bent over and lifted the box off of the ground. A couple of spiders crawled around his fingers before crawling over to the ground. Lachlan walked over to the woman and placed the box on the bar in front of her.
"Here ye are madam. All of our finest wines. Take ye pick," he stated as he quickly dusted off the bottle tops.

We're interrupted by the heat of the sun trying to prevent what's already begun
Mrs. Flint wasn’t all that surprised to hear that the Hog’s Head probably didn’t have much wine to offer her. It did not give off the vibe of a place that served the type of people who preferred wine over other alcoholic beverages. She expressed her gratitude with a small ”Thank you” since he was going to take a look around in the back for her. Pansy loved being treated as the exception, whether he would have done the same for someone else or not, in this moment he was going out of his way to give her what she wanted. A quality she was use to from most people. After the bartender wiped down the countertop before heading to the back in search of her requested wine she rested her arms on the cool bar top. Pansy began to think of an alternative if there was no wine held in the back, perhaps a regular bottle of Firewhiskey would suit her need. She would have to be careful though because it had been awhile since she had touched the hard stuff and Pansy hadn’t decided just how much she wanted to drown her sorrows today.
Marcus had a way of getting under her skin more than anyone else she knew and it was becoming too much to deal with. Their marriage had run dry in many forms of the word and it seemed irreparable. It wasn’t for a lack of trying, at least on Pansy’s end. Sometimes she wondered how she had even ended up with such an indecisive person. Marcus didn’t seem capable of making up his mind even over the most simplest of things and each decision was a struggle. However, one that should not have been one was whether or not he wanted her. If Marcus did Pansy could not tell through his actions. Sighing lightly, Pansy tried to let go of some of the tension caused by the anger she felt inside.
Finally the bartender returned with a huge box of wines giving her a distraction. ”Ah, yes. There does seem to be quite a collection here. Well done.” She said letting a small smile grace her face. Glancing over the bottles she noticed a few she liked and was trying to decide when her eyes locked on bottle she knew she couldn’t pass up. A bottle of red wine from the year she was born would suit her just fine. ”I’d like this one.” Pointing to the bottle of her choosing. Why not celebrate the year she was born, the year her slate was clean, and all the possibilities in the world were available to her?
