dearest parents;;
There never was much to say about Kiver's parents. They were there to make sure that he stayed out of trouble, but never bothered him outside of that. You could say that the young man had a wonderful childhood, filled with love, a beautiful home and parents that loved each other dearly. That is what it looked like to the outside world. Kiver's parents were happy for the most part. They enjoyed each other's company but seemed a bit irritated with the fact that they had a child. Kiver was always well behaved and was never in anyone's way, but to his parents he was a nuisance. His father would always be at work and his mother would always find an excuse to be out of the home until her husband had returned from his place of employment. This left Kiver with a nanny or a babysitter for the most part. When Ivan was accepted into Hogwarts, his parents celebrated like no other. They seemed pleased that their only son was going to be a wizard, in reality, they were excited to get rid of him for most of the year. Kiver would only receive one letter a year, letting him know that when he was to return for the summer months, they would be gone on a wonderful trip in the southern islands. This was nothing new to him, of course. He took that opportunity to stay outdoors. Study and be one with the stars.
Unfortunately, during his fourth year at Hogwarts, he had received his second letter of the year. It was quite strange for him, but as he read it he understood why. His mother had fallen gravely ill and was told that she would not make it to the summer months. Kiver had never known his mother enough to feel any type of hurt. He did want to show his father that he cared, so he was excused for the remainder of the school year to stay by his mother's side. At Christmas time, Kiver's mother had finally passed. His father excused himself from the hospital room and was never seen again. To this day, Ivan knows not where his father has gone or if he is still alive.
dearest hogwarts;;
Hogwarts was Kiver's home. He was never welcomed at his own, so he took refuge within the castle walls. During his first two years, the young boy thought it was all fun and games. Being part of the Quidditch team, pranking his class mate. There was something to be said of the friends he made there. They were inseparable, almost like brothers and sisters. Seeing as he was an only child, Kiver connected quickly to the youth that paraded around the grounds. Older or younger, Ivan got along with everyone. He was a force to be reckoned with.
As he got a little older, his studies became more and more a priority in his life. His friends came and went, leaving him to the solitude of spells and books. It wasn't until his fifth year that Kiver really started to get into Astronomy, Divination and Ancient Runes. The year that his mother had passed was a traumatic one for Kiver. He became a hermit, to say the least. He wanted nothing to do with anyone or anything but the stars he fell in love with three years prior until he ran into the most beautiful girl he had ever seen. Her name was Asterix Felicity. She was a year older than he was and soon became his everything. He forgot about school and the importance of it. He showed and shared his passion for the stars with her. They were sweethearts, until the year that she was to graduate. She was thinking of becoming an Auror, going to the Ministry for her training. Kiver loved that about her. She was determined.
Her dreams as well as his were put on the back burner. She became pregnant a year after she had graduated. Being a father in his seventh year was not part of his plan, but he wanted to be the best father that he could be to the boy or girl Asterix was to give him.
dearest profession;;
Kiver had always loved the stars, had always had an affinity for such things. When Kiver was about to graduate from Hogwarts, he was asked the dreadful question every seventeen year old is asked. "What will you be doing after school?" In all honesty, Kiver wanted to become the Astronomy Professor in his second home. He had always loved the subject and found himself quite good at it. He wasn't the best, but he certainly was the most passionate, he found. A few years after graduating, Kiver was accepted into an internship program for young persons wanting to become professors at Hogwarts. They were coupled with a previous professor of that subject and would learn from them.
Fortunately, when Kiver had finally made up his mind in what he wanted to do, the position was wide open. Astronomy was always his calling, and he had a knack for it. His intelligence and passion for school in general helped him pull through the course load and before long, the young man graduated from the internship and was ready to begin teaching a few classes a week along side the current Astronomy professor.
By the age of twenty-five, Kiver was in full swing at Hogwarts. The Astronomy professor that he was tagging courses with had finally given in his resignation (retirement) notice and left the position wide open. This was Kiver's opportunity to snag the position and so he did, with flying colors. He has now been the Astronomy Professor for the past five years and has been loving every moment of it.
dearest aramis;;
Unfortunately, Asterix didn't want Kiver to be around her son and decided that it would be best that he no longer had custody and signed the child's rights to her own parents. This devastated Kiver, creating an intense emotional block between himself and other woman. He does get to see his son every once in a while throughout the halls of Hogwarts, but having his son not know who he is kills him every time. There will always be a part of him that longs for his son and watching him grow up from the outside does not suit his fancy. Ivan hopes to meet Aramis one day as his father, and not as his professor.
There was something about the Black Lake that always seemed to calm Immogen's soul. Even the thought of watching a sunset, eyes glued to the giant squid's tentacles dancing with the slow rising waves, calmed the girl. The Black Lake was a place of escape for her. When Immogen was younger, her mother and father weren't around very much, leaving the girl to fend for herself. Often times, Immogen would try and escape the confines of her room and the watchful eye of her nannies to be alone. Most of these escapes happened at night, where she could watch the stars come and go. One of her biggest wishes was to be like the stars. To shine brightly, to come and go as she pleased.
This evening was somewhat like the nights she spent at her parents estate. Immogen looked herself over in the mirror and tilted her head to one side. Her long brown curls caressed the small of her back. Brown eyes looked back, revealing ultimate sadness and defeat. Immogen was bright, intelligent beyond compare. However, her potions class wasn't going very well. She didn't understand why she got the marks that she did. She didn't understand why she was doing so poorly. The last thing that Immogen wanted was to be tutored. Immogen wasn't a tutee, she was usually the tutor. She shook her head. No more, she thought to herself. She wouldn't let this get to her. The girl turned on her heels and marched over toward her bed. Underneath her pillow lay a journal, filled to the brim with snippets of songs, quotes, and Immogen's inner most thoughts. She grabbed the book, a quill and ink, and took the jacket laying on her bed.
The front doors that led out to the courtyards and lawns were still open, but she knew that they wouldn't be open for long. She raced down the moving staircase, occasionally waiting for a staircase here and there. Once outdoors, the young Slytherin sighed happily. She was free, even if it was only for a little while. She ran, as if someone had been chasing her down. She didn't stop. Not even to scold the students who would wolf call out to her, or the ones who would taunt her as she passed.
Immogen came to a full stop when she reached her favorite spot, near the water. One arm held up her small frame as she leaned up against the large boulder while the other was rested upon her heaving chest. A few moments passed, then she brought herself up onto the boulder and opened up her journal. She placed the ink bottle and the quill to the right of her, making sure that the ink wouldn't tip over and spill. She smiled happily, opening the book. The quill was held firmly between her index finger and her thumb as she began creating beautiful motions with her wrist. Concentrating deeply, Immogen left her surroundings mute. There was nothing and no one else in the world.
