The Reed family was never a wealthy one, though that never stopped Thomas. His mother was a muggle, and his father a pureblood, who worked in the ministry. He grew up among seven siblings, being the eldest, but surprisingly the most immature. He isn't exactly a trouble maker, but is humorous, and a bit of a smart ass. The family struggled with money problems for a long time, having many children to feed, and send to Hogwarts. His siblings were nothing like him though. They were all smart, and intellectual.
His letter arrived, and of course, Tom was ecstatic. He was sorted into Gryffindor, which was a surprise to his parents because they were sorted into Ravenclaw. And all his family have too... Though his parents weren't exactly, disappointed it was just a bit of a shock.
At first Thomas was absolutely rebellious. He was the student that always seemed to get in trouble, which got the teachers quite angry with him. Sometimes he just played pranks, or he was a completely smart-ass causing, mainly the professors, to think he was full of himself. Till year four he did this, then he decided to shape up. He'd never be able to bring home money for his family if he didn't study, and work hard in school. So, he became respectable over the next three years, but he does secretly still enjoy a good prank. But he holds off.
From Eliza's:
"And what if I don't get put in Slytherin house?" the young girl asked, face to face with her father who was kneeled down before her. "Does it matter? Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, or Ravenclaw would all do just fine if you ask me."
Her mother made a face, and her father shook his head. "You will be placed in Slytherin. There isn't a Collins in history that hasn't been, so stop worrying," he assured. "Now hurry, or you'll miss the train."
Without another word, Eliza headed for the train, and stepped on, her parents watching her until she disappeared. Slytherin this, Slytherin that... why does it matter? she thought, and started down the train's corridor, looking for an open compartment, specifically one where she could sit alone. There was a lot to think about. What classes was she taking? What house was she going to be in? Blah, blah, blah. Actually, it was all she'd been thinking about for months... no, years.
Hogwarts would be where she belonged, not boring like the old muggle world. This would be different, it had to be. Finally, Eliza found an open compartment, and slid the door open, closing it behind her once she was inside. Letting out a sigh, the brunette sat down on the left seat, and looked out the window. The train jerked into motion just as she seated herself, and the station began to pass by. The English Countryside was beautiful, but she barely had enough time to savor it as she fell asleep.
