EDWARD 'TEDDY' LUPIN
TWENTY THREE | PROFESSOR | ADULT | STRAIGHT | ANDREW COOPER
HISTORY
Edward Remus Lupin was born before the second Wizarding world ended; he was not in the world long before he became an orphan. He went into the care of his grandmother on his mother’s side. Growing up was hard as an orphan yes Teddy grew up knowing he was loved but there was still that whole in his heart that only his parents could fill. He went though points in his life where he became angry at his parents for leaving him. He wished that at least one of them had survived that he could have met one and known the love of a mother or father. He can still remember one night when he was eight and he put his grandmother in tears because he had said how much he hated his parents because they had left him he slammed the door of his room shut and could hear his grandmother’s cries from downstairs in the Kitchen. He hadn’t really meant that he hated them he had just been an angry child but his words still hurt his grandmother. He came down stairs and apologized to her and climbed into her lap and hugged her she may have been his grandmother but she was the only mother that he had ever known.
When Teddy turned eleven he of course got his letter to attend Hogwarts. Oh he was beyond excited, he wasn’t sure if he would be in the same house as his mother had been or his father or maybe he would be in a totally different house. When he was sorted Teddy found out he was taking after his father and joined the Gryffindor table and soon his Hogwarts adventure would begin.
There were so many times when Teddy found himself in detention that it kind of all meshed together but if he had to guess it was probably the day that he used a spell on Flich’s new cat and turned her pink. He couldn’t keep himself from laughing from his hiding place and was caught and instantly placed in detention along with twenty points taken from his house.
Many summers Teddy would go visit the Potters and their extended family; his most favorite times were when they went to Shell Cottage. He loved the beach and he loved to spend time with Victorie Weasley and her siblings. He learned to swim at the cottage and even was able to experience a normal family life, sure he wasn’t a blood relative but Harry would treat him just as one of his own children and all the Weasleys treated him like a nephew. Soon the whole that his parents’ left started to fill up, it would never be whole but it was mended. He loved listening to stories about his father, he loved the look in Harry’s eyes when he talked about Remus he could really tell that his godfather had loved his father and that made it easier to know that if his father had lived he would love him just the same.
His first couple of years Teddy did not have the best grades, he did not handle his newly found freedoms so well. Edward was almost always in detention; he loved to pull pranks on the teachers and would even be slightly disrespectful to a lot of them. He also spent a lot of time partying; he always had different girlfriends and worked his way through women that is until he started to develop feelings for Victoire Weasley, he had known her all his life and now he felt pulled to her.
Teddy knew that Victorie would never date him the way he was acting, he had a reputation of going through girls like a bear went through honey. He was pretty much known as a player and he knew Torie would never give him the time of day if he didn’t start acting like a better man.
In his sixth year the two started to date. He started to get his grades up and stopped his partying. He graduated as one of the tops in his class and even became head boy his final year. Looking back when Teddy was dating Vic he couldn’t have been happier. He loved her more than anything else, he trusted her completely and even started opening up to her more than he had ever opened up to anyone else before.
After graduation Teddy’s relationship with Victorie fell apart and he slipped back into his old ways, he knew that he was mostly to blame for the relationship falling apart. He had started to feel too close to the young witch and had started to pull away. He had started to become more of hermit then he was before. His heart was broken when the two called it off; he started to drown his broken heart with booze. When he was drinking was the only time he could feel comfortable in a large group of people, although his anger defiantly came out much easier and much stronger when he was drunk.
When Teddy decided he wanted to become a Professor at Hogwarts he cut back with his drinking and pulled back to a more serious demeanor. He sees Hogwarts, as the first step to getting his life back on track to a life his parents would be proud of. He is trying to pull his life back but it isn’t so easy, even though he has started to make little changes he knows there is still a lot of work to do on himself before he can allow anyone else in.
ROLEPLAY SAMPLE
Teddy’s life had taken a drastic turn in the last couple years; he had trained to be an Auror just like his godfather and had spent a few years doing just that. He had thought that being an Auror would finally make him feel complete in his life but it hadn’t, he had still felt like there was something missing and that’s when he had really turned to the alcohol. He had been pretty lost, he hadn’t really cared about much besides his next drink and when he drank he didn’t act like himself. He had a temper and would often get into fights.
When he had been offered a job at Hogwarts something inside of him clicked, he had thought maybe being a teacher is what he needed to complete him. Help mold the children of the future instead of hunting down the people who were beyond help. The moment he got the job Teddy was able to put drinking on the back burner, sure he wasn’t able to totally give it up but usually only had a couple drinks here or there now. He knew that it would be a constant battle but he was pretty good a fighting it on his own without others noticing. Much like his father Teddy was a loner, he liked to spend most of his time along and he liked fighting his inner battles alone. That was probably why he could never really make relationships work, usually a woman wanted to be let in, she wanted to work through his problems with him while Teddy would much rather deal with his issues alone.
It was the weekend today so Teddy had no classes to teach, he knew he should be grading some papers or making sure the students weren’t getting into any trouble which he had started to do but he had some how got distracted by the Lake. He sighed as he watched the sun light dance across the gentle water. Harry had told him what it was like beneath the calm water, the squid the mermaids. Teddy had always been afraid to fall in that seemingly peaceful water. He and Vic used to come out here and have picnics when they were together, before Teddy had kind of ruined that relationship like he ruined most of his relationships. Sitting down the Professor leaned against a nearby tree, he could see in the distance students also enjoying the nice weather.
