The McLaggen family was one who was driven by competition. Everything seemed to be a contest and that matter didn't change when it came to procreating. One of the few families around their age bracket to have five children and starting out with twins no less. Lawson was born, along with his twin sister, on July 13th and placed in the arms of two very loving and excited parents. Just like true McLaggens soon everything between Lawson and his sister became a competition. Who could make the first babble, be the first to crawl and then walk, the first to speak, etc. In most aspects Lawson usually accomplished things after his sister. However there was a slight distinction between the two. Motor skills came quicker to Lawson while language was easier for his sister. By the time they were five there was an additional 3 children welcomed into the family.
Cormac McLaggen was a professional quidditch player therefore, it was a huge part of their lives. All the kids played and were decent at the sport. Lawson excelled slightly more than the rest and enjoyed it as much as his father did. This gave them a strong bond. The siblings were all close considering they were each other playmates, especially Lawson and his sister. It was hard when the two eldest had to go to Hogwarts. Lawson was sorted into Hufflepuff which did not thrill his father all that much. Lawson was slightly disappointed in himself because he thought he would be sorted into Gryffindor.
As his Hogwarts years went on his relationship with his father slowly faltered. Although he made the team in his first year giving his father a reason to beam with pride Lawson didn't follow greatness in his grades. He struggled to focus between the sport and his education. Lawson wasn't a dunce he just didn't do his work as often as he should have. Also, spending a lot of time in the hospital wing due to quidditch related injuries he fell behind. Time in the hospital wing allowed him to reevaluate himself a lot, especially more toward his ending years at Hogwarts. Lawson's personality changed from the time he entered school until he graduated. He was an arrogant, semi-temperamental, competitive person who later learned the value of patience and kindness from the nurses at Hogwarts. This inspired him to become a nurse intern at St.Mungo's under the creature induced specialty.
Feeling paralyzed Regan was stuck staring into his eyes which sent a thrill through her. She could not register the surge that went through her body as their eyes met. She wanted to shake it off but the intensity in his eyes held her captive to listen to everything that flowed from his mouth. As each sentence ended Regan could feel a physical pain in her chest. It began constricting as the insults and reality of how the hatred she had morphed her into a beast as Archer correctly pointed out. She was ashamed of herself for in that moment Archer’s words held truth about her actions however, not all of it was true as he suggest it was. As he had pointed out that what she was saying was Her truths; the idea of Regan that he stated was His truth. Finally, the torment had ended and Archer had turned his back to her to collect Agnes to head home for pleasurable reasons. When his eyes tore from hers she felt air fill her lungs and her eyes began to water. She blinked them back because she would be damned to be brought to tears in public by Archer. Even though his words held truth, just as hers had, she was not going to show how much she was hurt. It was not the actual words that daggered her but the realization of who she allowed herself to become when antagonized by Archer. All Regan knew was that he was not going to leave without hearing her reply as she had heard his. As much as she wanted to turn away to collect her things and head home to basically do just as he implied she would, Regan wanted to right her wrongs in some form.
”You’re correct.” Regan said wishing that she did not have to do this right now. She never would have thought this day would come where Regan would be telling Archer he was correct about the shit he said toward her. However, she knew in order to move pass this and her past she would have to accept it. ”I apologize for my actions and words tonight. I acted in a way that I do not believe is truly who I am even if that is who you think me to be.” She said looking up at him waiting for some stupid remark to ruin this. She paused for a moment before continuing. ”However, not everything you said is truthful. Yes, I did cry myself to sleep many nights in school but who would not when someone was viciously torturing them as you did me. Everything I ever said was out of defense to protect myself. It was not the world that I was pissed at but you. You could never leave me alone for whatever reason I was your constant target when there were plenty of options just like me in Hogwarts that you could have focused your attention on. Instead, you chose me day in and day out. So yes, if I’ve finally become as horrible to you as you were to me than that is your doing as well as mine for not realizing what type of person you caused me to be when around you.” She tucked a stand of hair behind her ear before taking a breath. ”The truths that ARE my truths do not mean I am a liar. I am an Auror and do try to remain honest. If something is my truth then to me they are not lies and I’m committing only honest acts, I’m not intentionally lying. Something being my truth just means I am not knowledgeable enough about something to realize that I am being ignorant. So in that, you are completely correct. I have not done research on you, I saw no point. What reason would I honestly have to get to know you? In my mind and my view of the world youare were insignificant because that is the only way I could cope with the torment. Rationalizing that you did not matter was one of the reasons I did not drop out of school or worse.” Regan stated, tears in her eyes were beginning to pool once again. She was standing in a pub telling her story of hurt and embarrassment which was not something she shared so willingly with the world. All she could think was that maybe if Archer really heard how miserable he made her life, despite how strong she pretended to be, he would actually feel some sort of remorse but she was not going to hold her breath. She raised her head to the roof for a moment, blinking. She did not care at this point that it was becoming obvious she was fighting an emotional battle within herself. She looked back at Archer with clear eyes and chin held high. ”The fact that you have worked for any money, even though you started out with money handed to you, or have even been in love shocks me but that is not fully my fault. I can take blame but also that is the person you present to the world in my eyes. So I am not being judgmental however, my view is skewed by the person you present to me. If you are more than what I’ve become to believe than that is great for you. Just as you only know me for being a cruel person. Most others have a completely different view of me. I help people because I enjoy it. The career I chose actually has a lot to do with you, so not everything about you in my life has had a bad effect. Actually, I learned to be a stronger individual because of you. So I thank you for that. Just remember that you should take a look at your own words before judging others yourself because honestly you know nothing of the person I am when you are not around to bring out this horrible side of me.”
Regan could feel a large amount of eyes on her but she ignored them. She walked over to the bar not caring that it made her closer to Archer and asked for a fire whiskey. After everything that had happened she needed something to settle her nerves because she was slightly shaking as she paid the bar tender as he handed her the drink. She brought the bottle to her chapped lips and gulped down half the bottle before placing it down on the counter top and sitting on a bar stool. She knew her bag and items were safe where they were, she didn’t plan on going back to her table right away and would remain at the bar for a little while until she felt well enough to head home.
